Gena Rowlands found her attachment again with Robert Forrest after the tragic demise of her first husband, John Cassavetes, who was an actor and director.
Virginia Cathryn “Gena” Rowlands, born June 19, 1930, was an American actress who married renowned actor and filmmaker John Cassavetes in 1954.
She married Robert Forrest in 2012, many years after the tragic demise of Rowlands’ first husband, John.
Forrest, a retired businessman, had been a close friend of both Rowlands and Cassavetes.
Their relationship was marked by mutual respect and companionship, and they made several public appearances together.
Sadly, on August 14, 2024, Gena lost her life from Alzheimer’s disease at her home at 94.
The Notebook Star Gena Rowlands’ Second Husband, Robert Forrest, Had a Supportive Relationship
Robert Forrest, a retired businessman likely in his mid-90s, married Gena in 2012, and they have enjoyed a happy life together ever since.
The couple has made several public appearances, including at the premieres of Gena’s films The Notebook and Hysterical Blindness.
Although Robert and Gena did not have children together, Gena has three children from her previous marriage: Nick, Alexandra, and Zoe.
All three followed their parents into the acting industry. On June 24, 2024, Nick revealed that his mother had been living with Alzheimer’s disease for the past five years.
Robert has been a longtime friend of both Gena Rowlands and John Cassavetes.
Gena and her first husband, John, were known for their numerous movie collaborations, which significantly impacted the industry.
After John’s tragic demise on February 3, 1989, Robert supported Gena during her time of grief.
Nearly 23 years later, their friendship blossomed into a new chapter. Despite his wife’s fame, Robert has kept a low profile in his personal life.
It seems they shared a deep bond and enjoyed their time together until Rowlands’ passing on August 14, 2024.
Our heartfelt condolences go out to Gena Rowlands’s family, friends, and admirers. We will deeply miss her remarkable talent and impact on the world of entertainment.
Rest in Peace!
